For payroll & accounting hiring

Check PAYE, RTI and Xero knowledge before you interview.

Paste your Job Description. Candidates take a ten-minute check on their phone, built from the rules and systems it names – statutory pay, HMRC submissions, month-end, VAT. You interview the ones who reach the level.

Your first role is free: 1 JD Swipe + 10 candidates. Then €10 per role and €1 per candidate – no subscription.

Intermediate level confirmed in statutory payroll, RTI and Sage. Auto-enrolment not shown at the level the role asks for – worth one question.

A payroll mistake costs more than a slow hire.

Every payroll and finance CV says “strong knowledge of PAYE, NIC and statutory payments” or “month-end in Xero”. Whether that means running a 1,200-person payroll or watching someone else do it usually comes out in the second interview – or in the first payroll.

Finance managers don't have time to quiz twenty applicants on SSP waiting days or accrual journals, and generic numeracy tests don't touch the rules that matter.

JD Swipe checks the rules and systems your Job Description names, at the level you hire for, before anyone spends an hour in an interview.

From Job Description to shortlist in an afternoon

  1. 1

    Paste the Job Description

AI reads the standards, software and know-how the role needs, and the level – junior to expert. You see the skill areas before anything is built.

  2. 2

    Send candidates a link

About ten minutes on a phone, no account. True/false statements about the topics in your JD, a minute per card, never the same set twice.

  3. 3

Interview the ones who reach the level

One report per candidate: every skill area against the required level, one verdict, and questions for the interview.

What it doesn't check – and says so

Accuracy under pressure, discretion and how someone talks to an upset employee can't be judged with a knowledge check. The analysis shows how much of the hiring decision the check covers, and the report lists what was not assessed as topics for your interview. It is not a CIPP, ACCA or CIMA qualification.

Questions

Is it up to date with HMRC rules?

Cards are written for your Job Description and verified against official sources (HMRC, Revenue, the FRC) before a candidate sees them. If a rule changed recently, the check asks about the rule that applies now.

Can it check Excel?

Yes, at the level the role asks for – lookups, pivot tables, formulas and their pitfalls – as part of the same check, not a separate test.

Is this a numeracy or aptitude test?

No. It doesn't measure general ability. It checks whether the candidate knows the specific rules and systems in your Job Description.

Do candidates need an account?

No. They open a link on their phone, see your company name, the role and how long it takes, and answer one card at a time. They never see the correct answers.

How much does it cost?

Your first role is free (1 JD Swipe + 10 candidates). After that a Job Description costs €10 (up to 10 skill areas) and each candidate check €1, from a prepaid balance that never expires. A check is charged only when the candidate starts it.

Does the AI reject candidates?

No. The report shows, for each skill area, whether the answers reached the level your Job Description asks for, plus observations for a person to review. You decide who goes forward – that is how JD Swipe is built for the EU AI Act.

Who is responsible for candidate data?

You are the controller; JD Swipe processes the data on your behalf under the Data Processing Agreement in our Terms. Data is hosted in the EU and deleted 90 days after the check.
