For engineering & construction hiring

Know who really knows BS 7671, NEC4 or TIA Portal – before the interview.

Paste your Job Description. Candidates take a ten-minute check on their phone, built from the standards, software and contracts it names. You interview the ones who reach the level the role asks for.

Your first role is free: 1 JD Swipe + 10 candidates. Then €10 per role and €1 per candidate – no subscription.

Intermediate level confirmed in BS 7671, calculations and Revit MEP. Lighting design not shown at the level the role asks for – one question for the interview.

Every CV lists the standards. The interview finds out who has used them.

Engineering hiring is short of people, so every advert pulls in CVs that tick every box: 18th Edition, NEC4, Civil 3D, TIA Portal. A recruiter can't tell who has designed to BS 7671 and who has only read about it – and the engineer who could tell has no time for twenty screening calls.

So the real technical screen happens in the interview, with your most expensive people in the room.

JD Swipe moves that screen to the start: a short knowledge check written from your own Job Description, at the level you hire for, verified against the standards before a candidate sees it.

Interview the ones who reach the level

One report per candidate: every skill area against the required level, one verdict, and questions for the interview.

What it doesn't check – and says so

Drawing quality, site judgement, negotiation and client handling can't be judged with a knowledge check. The analysis tells you up front how much of the hiring decision the check covers, and the report lists what was not assessed as topics for your interview. It is not a qualification and doesn't replace City & Guilds, CSCS or chartership.

Questions

Is this the 18th Edition exam?

No. It is not a qualification. It checks whether a candidate knows the regulations and tools your role needs, at the level it needs – the same way you would probe in an interview, only before it and for every applicant.

Does it follow UK and Irish standards?

The check is written from your Job Description, so it follows the standards, contracts and software you name – BS 7671, NEC4, JCT, DMRB, Eurocodes, or I.S. 10101 for Ireland. Statements are verified against official sources before a candidate sees them.

What about site roles and trades?

It works best where the role is decided by knowledge with clear right answers – design, commercial, controls, compliance. For roles decided mostly by hands-on work, the analysis says so and the check covers the knowledge part only.

Do candidates need an account or a laptop?

No. They open a link on their phone, see your company name, the role and how long it takes, and answer one card at a time. They never see the correct answers.

How much does it cost?

Your first role is free (1 JD Swipe + 10 candidates). After that a Job Description costs €10 (up to 10 skill areas) and each candidate check €1, from a prepaid balance that never expires. A check is charged only when the candidate starts it.

Does the AI reject candidates?

No. The report shows, for each skill area, whether the answers reached the level your Job Description asks for, plus observations for a person to review. You decide who goes forward – that is how JD Swipe is built for the EU AI Act.

Who is responsible for candidate data?

You are the controller; JD Swipe processes the data on your behalf under the Data Processing Agreement in our Terms. Data is hosted in the EU and deleted 90 days after the check.
